Login prompt after prompt
Posted by ms newsgrp on July 19th, 2003

I was working on adding a drive to the system. I got the login prompt over
and over again.

I tried to copy the USERINIT.exe in each of the other drives. Booted up and
login. Took login to load but it still prompt for login over and over
again.

I took all the other drives off and the same thing.

What can I do?

Could you be a little more specific about your two remedial
actions:

- "I tried to copy the USERINIT.exe in each of the other drives."
- "I took all the other drives off and the same thing."

What exactly did you do?

1. Copy USERINIT.exe on to all other drives.
Rebooted and got the same problem of login prompts.

2. I decided to take all the other drive off (disconnected) and rebooted.
I thought this would help if its the other drives thats causing the problem.
But this did not help.

Hi,

If I'm reading you correctly, you're trying to access another drive that is
located on another W2K PC right? If so then goto that PC & create an account
on that system to tally with the ID that you're using from which you're
accessing from.

Right click on "My Computer" & select "manage". Then select "local users &
groups" followup with "users". Here create the account that you're using on
the other PC. No need to reboot the PC.

Hope this solve you're problems.

Rgds.

Where EXACTLY did you copy this file to? The location
is extremely important - please don't be so secretive!
