Logins to NT4.0 server fail from Win2K clients, work from WIn98 client
Posted by Jim Boughton on March 6th, 2004

We have a client with a small network - Windows NT4.0 Server, several
Win2K and Win98 clients, one domain. The domain administrator
password was changed in the past few weeks.

I am unable to login w/the Adminintrator account for the Domain from
any of the Win2k clients - bad id or password. I can login just fine
from Win98 & access the file server files.

I was able to login once on the console - not realzing the extent of
the problem, I changed one users password & later rebooted the server.
Now I am unable to login to the consoler either as administrator or
as that user....

Any ideas how to get access to the server? If at all possible we'd
like something short of a reinstall/load backups - that would be quite
time consuming.

Thanks in advance.
