Loosing Network Connection
Posted by PAC on July 13th, 2003

I have two PCs in a network. After a few hours uptime, the connection is
lost. This is the error message in Event Viewer I believe would be
associated with the disconnection:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MRxSmb
Event Category: None
Event ID: 8003
Date: 13/07/2003
Time: 08:12:00
User: N/A
Computer: P420
Description:
The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer T23
that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport
NetBT_Tcpip_{755C578F-EF9B-488A-8DEA. The master browser is stopping or an
election is being forced.

I am running W2KSP4 on one machine and WXP Pro SP1 on the other, fixed IP
address on both Any ideas of how I can the connection alive?

Thanx

Ignoring the Event Viewer message (which does not
necessarily indicate an error condition), what makes
you think that you have lost your network connection?

Does this mean
- You are unable to ping the other PC, or
- You can ping but cannot connect to a share?

If so, what are the error messages when you attempt
to ping or to connect to a share from a Command Prompt?

I just rebooted and the connection is now OK (ping and connect to share is
working fine). Can I e-mail you if the problem should repeat itself?
