- mounting volume headaches after a Ghost re-image...
- Posted by GO on September 14th, 2003
I frequently mount/unmount partitions on my system (via a batch file) and
have come across an annoyance when performing a system restore from a Ghost
image file. After doing a restore I find that the volume names (obtaining
from the mountvol command) have changed and is a nuisance to go in to edit
the batch file with the new volume name. Is there any way to make a volume
name permanent or some other type of workaround to make my life easier?
Sysinternals has a volume id changer and I thought that this would help me
but it appears not; the command (volumeid.exe) changes the serial number of
the drive.
TIA,
Greg
