Multiple user profile folders in Documents and Settings
Posted by Tom on March 4th, 2004

I'm seeing multiple user profile folders under c:\documents and
settings for the primary user of a computer. Everybody has a username
folder. Many users have another folder with the format
username.domainname. Some users actually have a 3 digit number (00x)
appended to the folder name (where x is a sequential number). Examples
are tbloom, tbloom.domain, tbloom.domain.001

Only one folder has the full profile. The other folders have
incomplete Application Data and Local Settings folders.

The OS is W2K Pro SP4 (all patches applied). These users do not have
local administrator permissions. Roaming profiles are set up. Users
login into a native mode W2K domain and group policy is set to not
keep local copies of roaming profiles.

I can't find anything on this phenomenon (which may just mean I'm not
searching correctly). Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks.
