- need data from bad hard drive
- Posted by Joel Young on July 28th, 2003
I have a laptop running Win2k Pro, hard drive is bad,
have replacement. (FYI, I have tried repair options and
recovery console, no luck, HD is bad)
Here is the problem: user has files in C:\ and in desktop
folder in \documents and settings
I can't use recovery console to copy files to a floppy
(no allowed by default) and there is not a way to connect
new/old drives together to copy files over.
I can't boot to safe mode w/cmd either.
Everytime I boot I get ntoskrnl.exe missing, replace file.
Any suggestions? (besides telling user to save on network
drive like I told him lol)
