I use Windows 2000 and Incredimail for my e-mail provider.
Whenever I get an attachment that is a Word Pad document
it opens with computer jargon instead of the message that
was sent. Do I need another program to open these? Please
help as one of these documents is an important genealogy
document.

Have you asked the person sending you the email what program and what format
they are exporting the data in? It may have an extension recognized by
wordpad, but is not in a text format.
