With Adaware, Spybot, and registry cleaners, they tell me what files are affected, but I don't know if the listed file is something foreign and deletable, or if it's a system file that's been altered and needs to be fixed rather than deleted. Most of the programs leave the decision up to me as to what to do with the suspicious files, and I don't know what is deletable or how to fix what isn't

With Adaware, I only have the demo which analyzes but doesn't fix. If I buy it, will it fix needed files by itself wihout me having to analyze the analysis....

with Spybot S&D you can delete the stuff that is flagged and a check mark is added with no worries, and if you click on the items it gives you all the details to make the decision

HOME use.

As I said before, you should use BOTH SpyBot
(http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download ) and Adaware. And
you must make absolutely certain that you download the latest data
definitions. Sometimes, you have to run the programs more than once if
you're heavily infested.

I would also suggest you download and run SpyWareBlaster
(http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) to keep the parasites
off of your computer. It's free.
Again, make sure you download the latest data definitions before running the
program.

I let both programs (SpyBot, AdAware) remove everything they find. I have
never personally had an adverse effect.

Please read my post carefully---you are not relating to my question. Please note that I already have these programs and have already run the checks, so links to downloads are not needed. My question is more a matter of not knowing how to deal with the scan results. I don't know what is OK to delete and which are files I shouldn't delete because my system needs them. The programs' Help is not helpful...

I think I have. Delete everything that SpyBot and Adaware suggests. I
do this on both my home and all of the computers at work. I can't tell you
how much crap *both* of these programs in *tandem* have removed. Use *both*
of these programs. I have been using these programs for years.

I know you are nervous as many people are, but I assure you these are good
safe programs and I have never had a negative experience using these
anti-parasite programs.

Why is the Help in these apps not helpful? Vocabulary?
Concepts? Have you browsed the products' websites
for enlightenment? The web for terminology? I believe
you don't realize the scale and scope of what you appear
to be asking for. Queries free of specific content are
tantamount to requests for custom tutorials or magic,
and you won't find either here.
