Quick Launch Toolbar
Posted by Jay Somerset on March 3rd, 2004

I have a problem with the QuickLaunch toolbar -- perhaps someone
can help.

I used to be able to add shortcuts to this toolbar, and position them in
whatever order I wanted. This order would be retained over shutdowns. Now,
any changes I make in the order of the shortcut icons is not preserved.

Don't know what I may have done to change things, but I would like to be
able to reorder the icons, and have that new order preserved.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Run 'sfc /scannow', this should repair IE6.

This behavior sounds like your profile isn't being saved correctly.
What happens if reposition some desktop icons to new places and then log off
and log back on? Are they back in the original spots? If so - the profile
you use isn't being saved correctly and could be damaged.
If this is the case - then try logging on as another user and see if you can
use the Quick Launch correctly. If you CAN and you have questions about your
profile and if it's repairable, you'll want to post in
microsoft.public.win2000.active_directory group as that group has people
that focus on profiles reading the messages.

If they DO get saved and the icons are in the new places, then it could be a
problem with the Quick Launch bar itself.
If this is the case - you will want to try a post in the
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.setup group.

Desktop Icon locations are preserved, so it sounds like a QL bar problem.
I'll try the group you suggested.
Thanks.
