- Reboot will not complete w/o F1
- Posted by Ward Geis on September 22nd, 2003
I have a client that mysteriously their fileserver goes
down twice on weekends now, and when the server is trying
to reboot, it gets to the point in post that asks press F1
to continue or F2 for setup. Ussually it continues to
boot if not prompted but lately it just sits there until
prompted. Once F1 is pressed the machine boots normally.
This is a fileserver running server 2k, and the only
other server in the domain is a exchange 2k server. Any
help would be appreciated.

This is a BIOS problem and has nothing to do with Windows 2000.
You need to observe the startup process and see what BIOS error message is
being posted, then hit F2 and attend to the problem. A BIOS upgrade may be
in order, or maybe you need to reset the BIOS to default settings.
