- Registry Changes - Not Saved
- Posted by Anon on January 22nd, 2004
I have done some modification to a Windows 2000 Terminal
Server registry in the following section
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Update
This is to apply a policy locally when users log into the
TS ( I have done the same on a normal Windows 2000 Server
without any problems).
The problem is when ever I do the changes and log-out and
log-in again the changes are not saved as it returns to
the previous values.
I get no error messages to indicate the registry changes
did not save, if I am still logged in and check the
registry, the changes are applied however once I log-out
and back in again, the changes are not their..
I have done the changes in Install and Execute mode, still
the problem occurs.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Make sure your a local Admin under the Regedt32.
Check the permissions. Just a guess...
What would happen if you exported the key, reboot, and
then executed it. Go into the registry and see if the
change took place.
Can you make mods else where within the registry or is it
just under this key?

This is bizzare now, when I change the settings to say
N:\FILE.POX - it retains the settings but once I change it
to N:\IE.POL - the settings are lost and it goes back to
the original settings I made..
