How do you remove an unwanted screensaver (downloaded from
the net)?

Some third-party screensaver installations will actually appear under the
Add/Remove Programs options in the Control Panel. Screensavers can take on
different forms but in the winnt\system32 folder you should see a .scr file
with a name that gives the offending screensaver away - delete it (or you
might want to rename it to sth like .bak first just in case!)
