Hi,

I have IIS running to support FTP and WWW services. I needed a SMTP relay
machine so attempted to start SMTP Virtual Server from the IIS Manager. It
will not run with the message saying to check the event log. Nothing appears
in the Event Log and when checking Services, SMTP is actually running (IIS
still shows a wee red cross) however.

Can anyone help ?

I am having exactly the same issue. I have tried reinstalling the SMTP svc and also reinstalling IIS! No luck. There are no errors in the Evnt Vwr

I have tried unregistering the smtpsvc.dll but get a 'DllUnregisterServer' error which says to check whether a corrupt version is in memory...
I used process explorer to check but couldn't find anything in memory..

Are you able to re-register the smtpsvc.dll
