You could try this:
- Restart the machine with the last known good configuration
- Restart the machine in Safe Mode
- Remove all non-essential adapters and see if the problem persists
- Re-install Win2000 over the top of the existing installation

If you suspect your hard disk then you should download &
run the free diagnostic program that every disk manufacturer
makes available on his web site.
Furthermore: If you install Win2000 on top of an existing
installation (as opposed to formatting the disk first) then
you may inherit the problem you previously had.
