- System event log not retaining entries

Log only records 2to 5 entries involving maybe the last
hour or so activity. No other activity is retained.
Security log seems to be working fine and application log
not recording any activity. Does anyone have an fix?

Are policies set to limit the size of these logs? or to
use them at all?
