I am trying to re-install my sound drivers on my Windows 2000 Professional.
I insert the Windows 2000 Pro disk in the CD drive, click 'Install Windows 2000', and get the following error message: "Windows 2000 Setup does not support upgrading from Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 to Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 2.
That's it. Nothing more. No instructions as to what to do next. Nor can I find anything about this issue, which I guess is a common one, on the web, in Microsoft's newsgroups, etc.
Any ideas

Is there a reason as to why your trying to reinstall windows 2000 just to
fix sound drivers? Why not go to the manufacturer of the sound cards
website and download the updated drivers for your sound card?

Well, I suppose you're right. It's a Toshiba, so the sound drivers will be proprietary, no doubt. But I get this message whenever I want to access ANYTHING on my W2K Pro installation disk, since I installed Service Pack 4 (against the advice of techie friends). I'd like to not get it. Any ideas?

This is expected behavior because you put in the Windows 2000 CD and click
to Install Windows, it is trying to upgrade your existing installation of
Windows. What it sounds like you are trying to do is just install sound
card drivers. I don't believe that installing SP4 has anything to do with
your sound card driver problem.
