- Undelete in Windows 2000 - Does it exist?
- Posted by Kelsey on July 18th, 2003
I need to recover a Word autosave file that was deleted.
In other words I existed Word normally so the autosave
file was deleted, but of course, it doesn't go to the
recycle bin. I use to recover files I lost through
undelete.exe. Is there a version of undelete that can be
used with Windows 2000? The lost file is on my c: drive.

Hi Kelsey -
As I mentioned in win2000.file_system, there is no longer an undelete
utility built into Windows, but you can get third-party products that
do the same thing. A Google search for "undelete" will show you
several choices, the prices range from free to a few bucks. Keep in
mind that you usually get what you pay for, and free isn't always
quite a inexpensive as it seems.
I hope this helps -
