- volume control moves to lowest automatically
- Posted by on November 22nd, 2003
I'm running Win2K Pro on Compaq Presario desktop with ESS
sound card. Resently whenever I set the volume control,
the slider always moves to lowest level automatically. I
found the solution 279442 on the Microsoft site:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;279442&Product=win2000#appliesto
First, there is not such a key "Enable HW Volume Control"
in the said location. I added the key in (tried either
with "REG_DWORD" or "REG_BINARY"), restarted the mechine
and it didn't work. Then I uninstalled the sound device
and reinstalled it and it didn't work.
I'm running out of ideas. Please help!
Thanks in advance!
