My server is hanging durin boot-up with a windows
display "preparing network connects". I understand from
Microsoft site that this is a known problem with multi-
processor machines and there is a Hot fix for it. I can't
get through to microsoft for help. At the moment I can
only boot in safe mode without network support.

Please somebody help! This is for Win2k server.

I would go to another computer that has internet access and goto
www.microsoft.com/downloads

Look for the patch there. Put it on floppy or CD and install it on the
server in safe mode.
Also you might try unhooking the network cable from the server and try
booting up.
There is a website for windows catalog which you can find all the patches.
