Any suggestions on how to get past the "Log On to
Windows" frame when the user and password are unknown?

Try to log on as administrator with no password.

Tried it as "administrator" "Administrator"
and "ADMINISTRATOR" Three Strikes I'm out.

Thanks, for the suggestion, though.

Oh, and let me know too, 'cuz there are several systems I would like to
log on to, and nobody would give me their passwords, strange people.

Thank you for your mature and helpful response.
The fact is that my company has a laptop that was used by
a former employee who has forgotten the password. So we
have a very expensive paperweight. We have no "IT"
department, so I was hoping to get some assistance in
restoring this computer into a working piece of equipment.

Grow up.
