Windows 2000 Pro

I have been told there are two different versions of
Windows 2000 Pro, one based on NT technology and one based
on XP technology. Is this correct? I don't really trust
the source but, I can't argue with them because I don't
know for sure.

Incorrect but you probably could rephrase that to be correct. Windows Pro
was released prior to XP. There would be no doubt that microsoft used
technology from NT to build 2000 and technology from 2000 to build XP. By
NT technology they usually mean the kernel or very base processes which the
OS uses.

XP is the "Version" of NT after Windows 2000. There is only 1 Windows
2000 Pro and it is NT 5.0. Windows XP is NT 5.1 Either you misheard
this person or they don't know what they are talking about.

As you can tell the second sentence should read Windows 2000 was release
prior to XP.
