- AD Design Documentation template
- Posted by Sam Munzani on January 20th, 2004
Hi,
I successfully migrated one of my customer to Windows 2003 network in multi
domain/multi site environment. All things are working fine including
replications, dns, authentication. Now customer is asking for detailed
design document. Can anybody share a MS Word or Excel template for AD Design
documentations? All I need to see is what format people usually use to
document their AD Designs. I already have the visio.
Thanks,
Sam

Kun,
You understanding is 100% correct. Usually people write the design document
first and then do the migration. But in my case, I did all the design work
on ad hoc basis on scratch papers. Now I want to convert them to a
professional design document. I just wanted to see how industry writes AD
Design documents.
I been through the links you provided during migration process.
Thanks,
Sam

Hi Sam,
Have you looked at the Windows Server 2003 Deployment Guide for these
templates? It has some nicely layed out worksheets in the Designing the AD
Logical Structure chapter
(http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...3/proddocs/dep
loyguide/dssbc_logi_overview.asp) that were created with this purpose in
mind. For an example, see
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tre..._logi_gryf.asp.
I hope this helps.
