AD not replication
Posted by Denis Roy on November 28th, 2003

Ad is not able to replicat properly, and this is what I get as an error. Ok,
guy's where do you start in correcting this error?

The Knowledge Consistency Checker (KCC) didn't add a link with parameters
due to a previous failure while adding a link from this source domain
controller.

Partition:

CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=trader,DC=corp

Source DSA DN:

CN=NTDS
Settings,CN=EDM2K3,CN=Servers,CN=EDMBF,CN=Sites,CN =Configuration,DC=trader,D
C=corp

Source DSA Address:

8d1bcb38-da23-4270-8fca-95e3a2115b50._msdcs.trader.corp

Inter-site Transport (if any):

CN=IP,CN=Inter-Site Transports,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=trader,DC= corp

The previous error status was:

The DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure.

This operation will be retried.

Additional data

Error value:

CN=NTDS
Settings,CN=EDM2K3,CN=Servers,CN=EDMBF,CN=Sites,CN =Configuration,DC=trader,D
C=corp

The Knowledge Consistency Checker (KCC) has detected problems with the
following directory partition.

Directory partition:

CN=Configuration,DC=trader,DC=corp

There is insufficient site connectivity information in Active Directory
Sites and Services for the KCC to create a spanning tree replication
topology. Or, one or more domain controllers with this directory partition
are unable to replicate the directory partition information. This is
probably due to inaccessible domain controllers.

It's very clear. The error is saying that DNS is not configured properly.
Make sure all DCs are pointed to the same DNS zone that contains SRV
records.
