ADAM and Anonymous LDAP setup
Posted by MSFC News on February 5th, 2004

Hello!

I've been trying to figure out how to set the permissions for anonymous
access to ADAM. I have ADAM installed on a Windows 2003 Server box.

I've set the dSHeuristics to the proper setting per the Help file to allow
anonymous ldap connections. There was a post last November 18th about
setting 'list contents' and/or 'read property' permissions to allow
anonymous users to be able to show/read entries in the directory. This is
where I need some assistance.

I have a branch(ou=cims,o=xxx,c=us) that I want to allow anonymous access to
view/read all entries/attributes. I've tried to set the member attribute of
cn=Readers,cn=Roles,cn=configuration, but I am not sure which account/user
to configure. Someone had mentioned the local computer's anonymous account.
Is this the 'Guest' account or something else?

Thanks for your help!

NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON == S-1-5-7

So, using ldp, add the following member to the group "<SID=S-1-5-7>"
(without quotes, with angle brackets).
