- Global catalog

Hi, Is there any use to have more than one global catalog (default) in the same domain, doesn´t all the DC´s in one domain contain all the objects and attributes.

I'd say that as a minimum to have two GC's for the sake of fault tolerance. In practice, it would depend on the physical layout of your network, one each side of a WAN or other slow link for instance.

You will require GCs to allow logon using UPN suffix's and also for
Universal group membership evaluation.
(Note on Server 2003 Universal Group evaluation can be cached on a DC)
Also GCs become even more important if your forest has multiple domains.
It is difficult to provide any more advice without knowing more about your
infrastructure and network.

forest, you need more than one GC. If this is indeed what you're asking,
no, you don't *have* to have more than one GC. *However*, because
certain queries are sent to GC ports rather than DC ports (Exchange in
particular queries GC port), it's actually not a bad idea to make *all*
of your DCs GCs in a single domain. It has no effect whatsoever on
replication traffic, but it does open the additional GC port on all DCs,
which allows them all to handle GC queries

Thank y, It was the replication and all DC as GC I wanted to know
