We only have one domain name but several domain controllers installed at the main and one for each remote site. Do we need one GC server per site? Remote sites are T1-connected to the main.

That will give you fault-tolerance and better performance.

Since you only have one domain, you don't really need to concern yourself
with GCs. Best bet is to make them all GCs.

Hi,
As I recall, a GC is needed during logon to determine Universal group
memberships, unless the domain is at W2k3 functional level. Logons can be
slow if the GC is remote. The recommendation is to have at least one GC per
site. If you have 2 DC's, both should be GC's, then after that perhaps every
other DC should be a GC.
