GPRESULT returning duplicate group access
Posted by Tim on November 21st, 2003

When running gpresult on a member server/dc the output shows duplicate group membership for the user. I believe this is interfering with Admin rights as they pertain to PowerQuest VolumeManager 2.0 since any time it is started on a server in this domain the administrator receives a "You must have administrator rights to run VolumeManager 2.0" error message. The user is a Domain Admin which makes him a local Administrator on the server.

The following is a partial listing from a gpresult:

RB\Domain Users
RB\Domain Admins
RB\Domain Users
RB\Domain Admins
RB\Domain Admins
RB\Domain Users
RB\Domain Users
RB\Domain Admins

Has anyone heard of an issue like this?

Tim, if you have the reskit you can run

whoami /all

This will verify your group membership and give some info on your access
rights on the machine.

Though I have to admit, I'm not quite sure what (X) and (O) mean! - see
example below

(X) SeChangeNotifyPrivilege = Bypass traverse checking
(O) SeSecurityPrivilege = Manage auditing and security log
(O) SeBackupPrivilege = Back up files and directories
