- How do I properly edit logon scripts on DC?
- Posted by Kirill S. Palagin on January 5th, 2004
Hello.
Subject says it all. The problem is that I have read several times that
I am not supposed to manually fiddle with contents of SYSVOL because it
contains junction points.
Thanks.

You should open the corresponding group policy object (Default Domain
Policy, for example), and edit the scripts from there.

In article <3FFA7505.B59462EF@nomail.phxint.please.ru>, Kirill S. Palagin
says...
open Active Directory-Users and Computers
On top of the tree, select your domain-name, klick Properties on the kontext
menu
Go to the Group Policies tab, and double click the default domain policy
In the Group Policy Object Editor, expand User Configuration, expand Windows
Settings, klick Scripts.
On the right side double klick Logon, then in the Logon Properties Window click
Show Files to open Explorer to show the Logon-Scripts. You can edit them from
here.

Thanks.
I can see there only Policy scripts
(\\phxmsk.ru\sysvol\phxmsk.ru\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\Machine\Scripts\Startup.
). I was talking about legacy logon scripts (in D:\WINNT\SYSVOL\domain\scripts),
Finally I have found in Technet that it is OK to edit files SYSVOL\domain\scripts
with the NOTEPAD.
Thanks everybody.
