- Restricting RPC traffic
- Posted by DeWayne Gibson on November 17th, 2003
My Exchange guys want to set up a front end server in the DMZ and have asked
me to configure my DCs and GCs to only communicate RPC through a set port.
The reference for this is an MS whitepaper titled Using Microsoft Exchange
2000 Front-End Servers, page 72 under Restriciting RPC Traffic. The change
is made via a registry modification of the NTDS\Parameters key on every DC
and GC in the domain (as well as the front end servers). My main concern is
how this will affect the rest of my domain communications.
Does anyone have an opinion about this? What would you tell your Exchange
staff?
Thanks Much
Dewayne
