- Server 2003 User accounts
- Posted by rpearrow on January 6th, 2004
I'm trying to create user accounts and roaming profiles.
I used to do this in Server 2000 with no problem. Now, it
seems 2003 has it's wierd ways. I am creating a parent
folder for both the home folders (USERS), and the
profiles (PROFILES) and sharing them both. When I create
the new user account, I go to the profile tab, and give
the full path to the profiles, and users folders. Server
2003 tells me that the home folder cannot be created
because I "do not have create access on the server. The
home folder value will be added to the account, but you
must create the folder manually when you achieve the
proper rights." I'm the administrator for crying out
loud... what other rights do I need?
Can someone help please?
Thank you,
Rick

In article <048601c3d462$f33d24e0$a001280a@phx.gbl>, rpearrow says...
check the Permissions of the Profile-Share (not NTFS) since by default the
share-permissions in WS2k3 have Everybody set to Read Access only - on the
profile-share you'll need full permission so that the server is able to create
subfolders and ntfs-rights on them.
