Trust relationship problem. Please help
Posted by Aram on March 1st, 2004

At us the problem connected with Active Directory Domains and Trusts has
appeared.

We have 3 Domain with VPN connections, two of which to us it was possible
trusted. At connection it Domain to a local network (not through VPN)
relationship occurs normally, but at connection through VPN in case of
addition the name third Domain in fields Domains trusted by this domain or
Domains that trust this domain is given out a mistake "If this domain is a
Windows domain, the trust can not be set up until the domain is contacted.
If this is an interoperable non-Windows Kerberos realm and you want to set
up this side of the trust click OK."

Could you prompt the reason of this problem? What adjustments or options we
could incorrectly adjust. Whether it can be is connected with DNS?

Thanks in advice.

Make sure that each domain can resolve names in the others network...
specifically place each domains DNS server as a forwarder in each others DNS
setup...

In order to trust another domain you must be able to resolve names...

Place the foreign domain's DNS server address in as a forwarder in your
domain's DNS, and place your DNS server address in the other domain as a
forwarder... This will allow each domain to resolve names on the others
network...
