- Unable to change from Mixed mode to native mode.
- Posted by Alan on December 3rd, 2003
When attempting to change from mixed mode to native mode it states that it
happened successfully and that it could take some time to propagate etc.,
however a subsequent message states either, a.) The following active
directory error occurred: a device attached to the system is not
functioning, or b.) The following active directory error occurred: A global
group cannot have a universal group as a member. Then if I go back into the
properties for the domain it shows mixed mode, the change never takes. Any
ideas or suggestions would be very welcome. Please reply to this post.
Thanks,
Alan

I assume all your DCs are Windows 2000 and higher?
Can you check Enterprise Admins and Schema Admins group, which groups they
are members of?
