User account cannot access Outlook / OWA from most computers
Posted by Alan Gravelle MCSE on March 4th, 2004

I have another post in the Exchange Server 2003 group
because it started that a single user could not access OWA
after migration to Exchange 2003. He can access his mail
account via his Windows 2000 Pro workstation (Outlook XP).

I have since tried to set up his profile on another couple
of computers. Outlook comes back with an error "Unable to
open your default e-mail folders. You do not have
permission to log on." Then "Would you like to open your
default file system folder instead?".

His account in ADUC is set up the same way everyone else
is. No Group Policies are in place. All client computers
are handed out addresses (IP, DNS, WINS) via DHCP.

Is it possible for a user account to become corrupt. If
so, how do you fix it.

Thanks
Alan

Yes, it shows up in ADUC and SM, and everything looks
fine.

Are there any reported errors in the event log? Try Update Recipients Update
Services in Systems Manager, Also ask this question in the Exchange Group.

Resolved on my own. Yes, I tried Recipients Update
Services with no success. I ended up creating a new
account for the user and using exmerge to move his mail
to a PST. Exchange groups weren't much help.
Thanks
