I have an old laptop with Win95. There is no built in CD
drive. I also have an external USB CD-ROM which obviously
I can't use. In order to get this to work I need to
upgrade to Win98 but in order to do this I need to be able
to use the CD-Drive....Any ideas?

if win95B then you could try usbsupp.exe to get the usb ports working ( i
think it is small enough to fit on a floppy)

If you can, hook your hard drive up to another computer
that has a CD-ROM drive. Make a folder named WIN98 on
your hard Drive, then copy everything from the WIN98
folder on the CD, to the WIN98 folder on your hard Drive.
When you boot up on your computer press F8 before Windows
starts and choose to boot to MS DOS Prompt.
Type
cd \windows
ren win.com win.co_
cd \win98
setup
That should do it!
