- Clean-up and New Purchase

I own an NEC system bought in 1996 containing Windows 95.
I am unable to get the kind of performance I used to get
perhaps because of a virus and "trash" on my system. Am
considering a new system with Windows XP but before I do
that I want to clean-up my current system and see what I
can get in terms of performance and whether or not I can
upgrade my browser.

A fresh install will do wonders but your browser needs to stay at IE5.5 or
less. Of course, a new machine with XP will be a significant improvement in
performance.
