I have read the Interrupted Disk Defragmenter Causes Lost
Clusters Article 131741. It states that the resolution is
the use the Windows 95 ScanDisk Tool (or another disk
repair program that is compatible with Windows 95) to
repair the hard disk. I have used the ScanDisk and it
hangs up at a specific number and will not run anymore.
Can you tell me what I need to do now?

try it in safe mode....hit F8 while booting up, select safe mode, then do a
scan followed by a defrag/
