- Gateway with Windows 95 won't boot
- Posted by Jack Marks on July 14th, 2003
Here is the complete statement. I am in the process of selling my old Gateway with Windows 95, so I erased many files. Somehow, I erased too many, and it won't boot to Windows 95 anymore. During the boot process it says it can not find many files with the extension .VXD which are supposed to be in the folder C:\windows\system\vmm32. I checked, using the command prompt, and the files are there and look just fine. I even changed the path setting, so that it even looks in this folder, but that did not help.
I tried to re-install Windows 95, but that did not work, because there is a disk compression utility running, it says.
The great majority of the Windows 95 files are still there. Is there a quick fix?
