I am shocked.
Posted by David Candy on March 10th, 2005

I only read XP groups these days. Apologies to non XP groups if this has been handled.

Those that know me know I am overwhelmed with grief for the last while (I failed to save a life two saturdays ago). This is someone else's responsibility.

But I see no mention of our very long term helper's death in these newsgroups.

Tributes aplenty in the Win98 general newsgroup some 10 hours ago.

Please take a break, David. I did, after posting notice of Alex's
passing in the Win98.Gen_Discussion group last night. I understand your
feelings, but I somehow doubt Alex himself would have wanted you to
berate anyone for not managing to remember to pass on the news while
still in their own state of shock.

That's good to know. I can't do anything but some need to step forward. I still don't see his name (in XP obviously 98 excluded from my comments - how about adding XP.Gen to the thread over there?). I've used OE's search searching for his last name for the last 7 hours and have had no hits. I tried to review all posts but realised quickly that was impossible.

I only have hearsay so can't make it an official annoucment.

I believe a thread at jim's site talks about it http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=122...asc&highlight=

Some have told me the announcement was made here (?)

He was the best of the best in XP gen, and I both admired and respected

God has had one hell of a Rock-n-Roll band since the early 70's, but now

Good-bye, Alex!

but of course I have come across his name and postings around about. I
am very sorry to hear of his death and I'm sure he will be greatly

That's a damn shame, David.

Not least because he was the best man on XP.Gen.

I remember David. Please accept my sincere condolences on your recent

Took me a while to figure out who you are talking about. Alex was
definitely one of the BEST people on XP.gen (sorry, I don't read the
other groups) and a pure expert in disk
and file systems. I will always be greatful for what he has taught me.

I am definitely shocked at the news of his demise.

Rest in peace Alex.

Hey Jim,

That was a funny story you told on your forum about Alex. On this sad
day, it was a fitting tribute to share such a story, that showed his dry
wit. Please repost it here, to share it with this group.

My deepest and most heart-felt condolences to you, and all that loved
Alex.

to God that you may someday change and find inner peace, David Candy.

Kurt, can you do me a favor and talk some sense into David Candy because you
are a moderator and David Candy can be really annoying. Thanks in advance
for the great work over at the XP General newsgroup in keeping trolls at Bay.
I for one greatly appreciate it.

Jim you are doing great. David can be annoying and already has been mean to
me in the XP General newsgroup. I now consider David Candy a troll until I
am proved wrong by someone else.
