need help finding drivers for i845GE chipset
Posted by Vic on March 22nd, 2006

Trying to contact Intel is useless, unless of course you want to pay good money!

I am trying to find Win95 (actually OSR2.5) drivers for an i845Ge chipset. It is a nostalgia thing!

Went to Intels download web site.
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...+95+OSR+2.x&la
ng=eng&strOSs=16&submit=Go%21

They CLAIM to provide support for Win95 and this chipset but here's the oddity. The read.me files (documentation) CLAIMS support by
saying when you unzip the file look for Win95 folder or Win95old folder, but NO win95 folders exist in ANY of the "Intel Chipset
Software Utility" files. I checked them ALL. They are ALL downloaded on the pc now.

Version 3.2 and OLDER say they support Win95 in some form, yet there are no support files ... does anybody have an older CD maybe
which has the Win95 folder. Maybe an older "Intel Chipset Software Utility" file which has been laying around since 2000 or so still
has the folder?

I'd really like to find the support files that USED to be there!

Thanks for your help
Vic

Look at the bottom on the link you supplied you will see:

This product has Previously Released software and/or archived software
downloads.
Older and archived software downloads can be found within the Previously
Released area.

On the Previously Released Area I found achives of the utility all the
way back to Version 1.1. Up to you to read and see if this is indeed
the package that you need for the chipset. See here:

John, as mentioned in the initial post, I've downloaded these and unzipped them and did NOT find a Win95 dir!! The others are there
.... but not 95!

It's as if Win95 was simply removed from all of them. Try D/Ling one yourself and unzipping. It's weird

I see... Install the drivers with the .exe package instead of the .zip.
(1. INF Update Utility [INFINST_ENU.EXE] (1528KB))
