I have Win95 where I tried to get rid of IE4.0.Since
the usual way (add/remove programs) did not work, I
tried the ERadicator.
Next, I installed Netscape Communicator 4.7 from a
CD Rom and did not experience any particular problems
during installation. Right at the end there was an
error message:
NETSCAPE caused an invalid page fault in Module
OLEAUT32.DLL at 0137:7ff6c5f8.
No article in the MS Knowledge Base had an exact
match. Since the Briefcase could be a potential
problem (KB319581), it was removed.
KB319508 deals with problems of this kind but does
not say what to do next.
Apparently some CRICAL_SECTION object was not
properly initialized by the process (NETSCAPE in this
case) by invocation of some "InitializeCriticalSection"
function.
OK. What shall I do now? Using the CS:EIP information,
how can I fix the above function?
N.B. Installing IE4.0 from CD Rom produced a similar
result: IExplore caused an invalid page fault in
module Kernel32.dll at some CS:EIP.
