- Run Scandisk & Defrag at command prompt?
- Posted by Nancy on March 30th, 2006
My defrag will not work because of an error that says to run scandisk
first.
I do but I still get the same error.
So I'd like to run a thorough scandisk at the command prompt.
Does anyone know the command for that.
Also need to know the command for defrag.
Thank you.
Nancy

but you cannot run defrag in dos

Set the directory to C:\Windows\Command
Try:
Scandisk C: /surface
Use the help in DOS if you need more.
Get back to Windows before running defrag.
See if defrag runs correctly after that.
