software for win95
Posted by peyoting on October 1st, 2007

I'm searching monitoring apps, for example process explorer.

The problem is that actual versions don't run on win95, where i can find old
version of programs checked in win95?

Actual programs that support win95?

There are hundreds of sites with archived shareware and
freeware, most of which is 3.1 - 95 era. Google with names of
what you want, or search through some sites which you can find
with "shareware freeware 95".
For the most popular, try www.oldversion.com

There are other programs that do the same thing, and most good
programs will run on any 32 bit platform. IMO, anything that
only runs on 2000 and up is usually suspect for a variety of
reasons.

Go to some software sites and look under system tools.

I don't know *exactly* what you're after, but two I use are
FileMap (monitors changes in root, won and win sys -
www.dogkennels.net/filemap) and taskinfo (www.iarsn.com - there
is an archive of the older versions.).

There is a prog called filealyzer which I found pretty useless
but you might like it.

You can sometimes find older versions - or ASK for them - in
binaries. warez groups as well.

Sorry, that's as much as I am willing to put into this. It's all
out there, you just have to look. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes,
sometimes it takes longer. Good luck.

AFAIK the current version of Process Explorer will work with Win95.

From the Process Explorer 11.02 page:
"Process Explorer works on Windows 9x/Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP,
Server 2003, and 64-bit versions of Windows for x64 and IA64 processors, and Windows
Vista."

Your old hardware might have trouble with it though.

If this is your real email address, I will send you a link to download Process
Explorer 9, plus the Win95 versions of Filemon and Regmon, from my personal web
space.

I am cc'ing to your email and the newsgroup.
