- Upgrade from Win 95 to 2000
- Posted by Carol H on October 17th, 2003
I have factory installed Win 95. Can I purchase just the
Win 2000 upgrade and install or do I need to purchase the
entire new Win 2000?

You can use the Upgrade version of Windows 2000 Professional to install as
an upgrade. That is, it will find the existing Windows system and go from
there.
If you wanted to do a clean install, you'd need a Win95 CD first. But as an
upgrade, it should work just fine.
Be sure your hardware is suitable for running Windows 2000, though:
