- Windows 95 File Permissions
- Posted by sir_blast@hotmail.com on February 2nd, 2006
I have a strange problem with a Windows 95 computer. This computer had
the Novell Client installed, and a program would access a share from
Novell to copy files to the local computer.
Novell is being decommissioned, so all the data from Novell server was
copied to a Clustered Windows 2003 server and re-shared. On the new
share, this 95 machine can not copy certain files. It recieves the
following error:
Cannot copy <FileName> Access Denied. Make sure disk is not full or
write-protected and the file is not currently in use.
This seems like a simple permissions issue. However, the users in
question can copy files from any other computer. What is really
strange is that I can rename the same file in question, but simply can
not copy it.....
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure if there is a domain account for the computer. However,
it is a 95 machine, so it can not exactly be a member of the domain.
