You need to tell us what happens.
You say "boot diskette in A:". If this is a Windows boot disk, it
should not run Windows but should give you a menu of choices. Does the
computer actually boot? Do you get a DOS prompt or a menu? You can
obtain a Windows Startup Disk at:
http://www.bootdisk.com/
You say Windows "will not run"? What have you tried in an effort to
induce it to run?
More generally, when did this problem appear? Was the system working,
say, yesterday?
