I am currently using windows 98 se does anyone know if
there is an upgrade to fix the 2gig limit issue or do i
need to upgrade to windows xp. If I nned to upgrade to xp
is there a limit?

Takes a little guessing to figure out what you are referring to, but it sounds like you are asking about the 2 GB partition size limit. That only applies to partitions formatted as FAT16, commonly referred to as just FAT. Windows 98 drives can also be FAT32, which supports drives up to 2 terabytes in size. That article will also tell you have to convert to FAT32.

The limit on a file's size is 4gb in Windows 9x, but most programs will not
create a file larger than 2gb (actually 2gb minus one byte) due to the size
of a common data type. There is no patch, upgrade or workaround to the 4gb
size limit, the 2gb size limit may be avoided by using a different program
to create whatever humongous file you're trying to create.
