Can't Open Some Saved Documents
Posted by JLDavis on September 12th, 2003

I have a number of documents saved for years in "My
Documents" file. Recently I have not been able to open
them and instead get this message: "cannot locate
microsoft conversion library (MSConv97.dll)." Any ideas
on how to solve this problem and why it happens?

1. Find this file on your hard drive.
2. Copy it to c:\program files\common files\microsoft
shared\textconv

It would seem that you have updated your version of Word
or Office over the years.

That file is a document converter which facilitates conversion
of documents between different versions of Word.

Run your install program and install the necessary converter.

You may need/want to download the MS viewers for these files.

Office 2000, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and Access.
