- Hope needs help with Pentax problem
- Posted by Hope on February 4th, 2004
I installed the software for a Pentax camera, it changed
every photo on my computer to be opened by this program. I
uninstalled the program, since I preferred other ones
already on my computer. Now, all my photos cannot be
opened because the program is uninstalled. How do I get it
back the way it was? I just did this yesterday, can I
restore my computer? Thanks for any help.

Easiest may be to reinstall whatever program you prefer to launch when you d-click the image files. Trying to manually recreate image file associations properly can be mind-bending. However, some programs have procedures somewhere in Preferences or Options, etc., that will allow you to tell it to reclaim associations. Might check that out, first.

In Windows Explorer, go to one of your picture files (probably .jpg) and
hold the shift key while you right-click on the file. You should see an
option "Open with...". Choose whatever you like, Win98 defaults to IE, XP
defaults to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Pick your program and check the
box to always use that program to open files of that type, then click OK.
Hope that fixes it for you....Hope.
