- Keyboard remapping in Window 98SE ?
- Posted by Tedd Riggs on February 3rd, 2004
I am not sure if this is the right place to ask. But figured it is good as
any. Also asked in the mshardware group.
I have about a 3 year old Sony Vaio XG-9 Laptop (Win98SE) which for the most
part works fine (except no Sony drivers are around to update thee OS...)
Anyway a few of the keys (n, h, e ) are almost not working at all, you
really have to hit the keyboard hard to get them to work.
Two choices. Get a external keyboard which might be the easiest or is there
a way to remap or reassign lets say some of the function keys to these three
keys that do not work well ? (ie F1=n, F2=h, F3=e) This would drive a
regular touch typer crazy, but I am at thee two finger level anyway and does
not really matter.
Thanks alot
Tedd

That's a wacky idea, if I ever heard one, Riggs-- & I talk to Colorado
an awful lot! Instead, just turn the keyboard around, & give it a
spanking.

Hey that's not fair comparing me to Colorado !!
Yeah its wacky, but would you want to pay $455 for a new Sony Keyboard ? I
think I am just going to get a regular external keyboard and use that.
I think someone told Henry Ford the horseless carriage was whacky also :-)
Believe me, I have already spanked the keyboard enough and lots of contact
cleaner, it help a little but, but not much.

$455.00 is shocking & goes a long way toward explaining your conundrum.
Be sure to scraps the gold, platinum & uranium off the Sony, before
switching. OK, then.
