I find that even though I make a password for login ,
anyone who wishes to login to Win 98 can do so by just
clicking on the 'cancel' button at login prompt.What can
be the solution to this?Can ne1 help pls?

Win98 offers no solution to this. (It was not
designed as a secure system.) But most
PCs allow you to set up a password in BIOS
(before Win98 starts.)

You would need some type of 3rd party program to accomplish this. Although there are different ways to accomplish this, there is always a possibility that someone with some computer savy can bypass them. One way is to set a password in the bios if the option is available, another is one suggested by George ( a regular poster with the same warnings ):

Click on Security > Prevent Unauthorized Users from accessing your computer. Read the instructions fully, it is possible to lock yourself out of your own computer.
